British Food Focus Awards
Recognising & Rewarding The Best of British
The British Food Focus Awards reward and recognise the best British food shops, British restaurants and British food events each year.
The 2009 awards cover four categories; the best British food event, best British food shop (both UK and International), and the best British restaurant.
Entries should be submitted by the 20th March 2009, and the winners will be announced around the middle of April 2009.
Entering is simple, just send details of your business or organisation in an email to British Food Focus, along with the category you would like to be considered for.
Tell us in 500 words or less why you think your business or organisation should win. Include as much detail as possible. See below for a guideline of what the judges will be looking for in each category. Send your entry to: info@britishfoodfocus.com
1. Best British Food Event
Judging Guidelines
The judges will be looking for an event which celebrates and promotes the best of British food. It may be educating children to think about the environment and where their food is coming from, or a festival of food showcasing the best of British producers.
This category is wide open to interpretation, so whatever your event (large or small) we will be taking all entries on their own merit.
2. Best British Restaurant
Judging Guidelines
The judges will be looking at the overall experience, sourcing of ingredients, creativity and service. From fish and chip shops to Michelin star restaurants, the judges will be looking for something unique, special, and British!
3. Best British Shop (UK)
Judging Guidelines
The judges will be looking for a business that is passionate about what they do, whatever niche of British food is sold.
This could be a traditional British shop, an innovative cottage industry or a successful high street shop that can hold their own against the big supermarkets.
4. Best British Shop (International)
Judging Guidelines
The judges will be looking for a shop that promotes British products overseas. This could be a local British shop abroad serving a small expat community, or an online food export business.
Judges will look for innovation, customer service and availability and range of products.
