Our Top 5 Recommended British Restaurants

British Food Focus has picked a select few restaurants to recommend. The best fine dining restaurants are often hard to find. Even while cruising along the streets in a luxury car hire ireland vehicle, that one special restaurant you're looking for can still be elusive. With this in mind, we've come up with a list of our top 5 British restaurants to help you out. You may have heard of some of our top five before, while others may be more obscure. All have been tried by us and are highly recommended.

Our top five restaurants have been selected for excellent food above all, but also ambience, great service and that special something!

1. Cafe Maitreya

Vegetarian Restaurant, Bristol

Cafe Maitreya

Cafe maitreya is a small restaurant in Bristol serving great food. Rated as the top UK vegetarian restaurant, as judged by the national vegetarian society. Menus change regularly and the dishes are modern and vibrant.

Ingredients are sourced from local, small scale and/or ethical suppliers using organic, seasonal and wild ingredients as much as is practical. The organic wines are recommended.

2. Restaurant Sat Bains

Lenton Lane, Nottingham

Restaurant Sat Bains

Restaurant Sat Bains is a bit different. It combines a chic boutique hotel with Nottinghamshire's only Michelin star, tucked away in a quiet road but only minutes from Nottingham centre.

Sat Bains offers a complete experience. The tasting room allows those interested in cooking to experience some of the techniques used, and the food is anything but ordinary.

3. Hotel Du Vin

The Winchester Hotel

Hotel Du Vin

The Hotel Du Vin chain has proved popular and expanded rapidly in recent years. While the concept revolves around a French name and a specialism in wine, the menu has many firm British favourites.

All of the hotels are nice, but the Winchester one gets our vote for their best restaurant. A wonderful building and dining room, and a fantastic experience.

4. Summer Lodge

Evershot, Dorset

Summer Lodge

An exceptional British get-away tucked away up an unassuming Dorset country lane. Fine dining with exceptional service and simply incredible food. The afternoon tea is a must, with traditional scones and pastries.

Roast loin of Dorset lamb with braised shoulder is typical of the locally sourced ingredients, Summer Lodge is expensive but worth every penny if you are planning to splash out.

5. Rules Restaurant

London's Oldest Restaurant

Rules Restaurant

Established by Thomas Rule in 1798, making Rules the oldest restaurant in the London. Rules serve traditional British food, specialising in classic game cookery, oysters, pies and puddings.

The highest quality game birds, roe deer and Belted Galloway beef are sourced from the estate owned by the restaurant in the Pennines. Spectacular glass house, great British food.
